What Happens When You Break the Chain

As I was going through my files I ran across the following letter that I cut out and saved several years ago.  Perhaps you’ve seen it before.  This is what it said:

“Dear Chairperson, Committee on Staff Parish Relations:
This chain letter is meant to bring relief and happiness to you.  Unlike most chain letters, it does not cost money.  Simply send a copy of this letter to six other churches that are tired of their minister, then bundle up your pastor and send him to the church at the top of the list.  In one week you will receive 15,436 ministers, and one of them should be a real dandy.  Have faith in this letter.  One person broke the chain…AND GOT HIS OLD MINISTER BACK!!!”

Well, evidently someone must have broken the chain!  In fact, it will be made official at Annual Conference this next week.  I, along with SungNam and Jared, will be reappointed to Madison Street.  Speaking on their behalf, we are thrilled!

The last ten months have been incredible.  Amy and I are truly grateful for all your prayers, gracious words of support, wonderful acts of love and kindness, and all your encouragement.  It is truly a privilege for us to be here with you at Madison Street, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to share in ministry with you.  I’m looking forward with much anticipation to even more exciting days ahead and all the great things God has in store for us.  Please keep up the great work of talking about all that is going on in our wonderful church, and keep inviting others to come and worship with us.  It’s really making a difference.

And thanks for “breaking the chain”!

In Christ,

Cliff C. Wright, Jr.
